The Aromatic Character of Ottoman Coffee
This Ottoman coffee is prepared with Arabica coffee alongside cocoa, cardamom seed, terebinth, carob, and mastic gum flavoring. The coffee whitener lends the blend a softer, creamier sip.
When brewed in a cezve, it produces an aromatic foam and a rich scent. The coming together of the different components offers a more layered taste than classic Turkish coffee.
Ingredients and Warning Information
The product contains coffee whitener, Arabica coffee, cocoa, cardamom plant seed, terebinth, carob, mastic gum flavoring, and sahlep. It contains milk and dairy products; as it contains high amounts of caffeine, it is not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
The coffee whitener contains milk protein (sodium caseinate), so those with a milk allergy should take care. Mastic gum and terebinth add a traditional aromatic depth to the blend.
Brewing and Preparation
For each cup, about two teaspoons (6-7 g) of the blend is placed in the cezve with drinking water measured by the cup and cooked over low heat until it foams. Since the blend contains whitener, it delivers a smooth sip without the need for added milk.
Storage Recommendation
To preserve the aroma, the tin should be kept closed and stored in a cool, dry place. After opening, tightly closing the tin slows the escape of the aromatic components.
